The Jakarta Post,
A week has passed since the Gambir car crash last Sunday, when a
vehicle plowed into a group of pedestrians leaving nine dead, but the
memory remains.
Dozens of flowers were laid at the scene on Sunday.
A
banner was also put up, with the words “Flowers to recall the
unexpected tragedy caused by recklessness. Hopefully the memory will
remain to wake our consciousness”.
Some residents even stopped by to say prayers.
“It is so tragic, I’m still sad,” Fitri, one of those at the scene said on Sunday as quoted by tempo.co.
A
woman driving a black Daihatsu Xenia, with three passengers, lost
control of the vehicle and plowed into pedestrians in front of the PLN
office in Gambir, Central Jakarta, claiming the lives of nine people and
critically injuring another three.
Police found methamphetamine, a
substance usually found in crystal meth, and ecstasy in the driver and
passenger's urines. (iwa/mtq)
